Join the Elgin Township Democrats in Elgin’s Fourth of July Parade!
The parade steps off Monday, July 4th at 9am at Slade and Douglas Avenue. Please join the Elgin Dems float by 8:30am.
The Elgin Dems will be staged on Grove Avenue at GROVE A. This should be the section of Grove Ave between Slade and Lincoln. (You can ask a gate captain at N Grove Ave and Ann St for directions to GROVE A if you need them.)
Dress for the weather and wear an Elgin / Kane County Democrats or candidate shirt if you have one. Signs are encouraged as well.
(Do you have a friend who feels they need to march too? Invite them along to meet with like minded people. The camaraderie and conversation with others who try to make a positive difference can help.)

The Kane County convention is held every two years following the primary election on even-numbered years. This is when all new PCs are officially elected and can thus elect the Chair and Executive Board members of the Kane County Democrats. This is a weighted vote based on the number of Democratic ballots pulled in your precinct for that primary election. We will have the weighted number once the ballot is certified following the June 28 election. The scheduled County Convention is a set date required by Illinois state law, which will take place this year on Wednesday July 27.
If you are a newly elected PC for the 2022-2024 term, please email us at info@kanedems.org to ensure that your email is included in our invite. Please note that this is a private event and that only elected and appointed PCs will be allowed in.

Inflation hits the poor the hardest and makes their life very difficult. This means that they rely on the Food Banks even more. The BEST WAY to donate is to make a check out to ECM (Elgin Cooperative Ministry) – OR – pick up a few extra items while you are at the store.
Two Locations
Settlers Park, 3046 Sutton St, Elgin, IL 60124 (West of Long Common)
210 Wing Park Blvd, Elgin, IL 60123 (Carl and Cherryl Strathmann’s home)
What Is Needed
- Food items: cereal, canned foods, granola bars, peenut butter, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, veggies, fruit and meat.
- Cleaning supplies: sponges, paper towels, laundry detergent, bleach, all purpose cleaners, dish soap.
- Toiletries: soap, deodorant, razors, feminine hygiene products, shower gel, diapers, toilet paper.
The most effective donation is always money so the food pantries can buy what is needed in bulk. Make checks out to:
- ECM – Elgin Cooperative Ministry
- FFGE – Food for Greater Elgin
Can’t make it to the food drive? Contact Vern and drop off at his home. He’ll make sure the donations get to the food drive.
Save the date for this year’s Elburn Days parade! Join the Western Township Democrats (Blackberry, Campton, Plato, Virgil, Burlington and Kaneville) and many of our Democratic candidates to show support for the party and help get out the vote.
Line-up is at 5:15pm and the parade steps off at 6:00pm. This is a fairly quick but very fun parade. We encourage everyone to march with us – the more the merrier! Please wear/bring any political swag and gear you have as well as some bags of candy to pass out to kids!
