With great delight I want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU! to Kane County voters for participating in the election – and a very special thank you to our supporters, staff, committee people, organized labor, and every candidate on the ballot!
As a result of your efforts, we won every countywide race! And we are also leading in every contested County Board race that, if all turns out as expected, will result in four additional Democrats serving on the county board.
We elected Illinois’ first Democratic woman sheriff. And if that’s not enough, I’m pleased to report that now all countywide offices are held by women. Last night, Kane County voters replaced two men and elected women to the positions of Treasurer and County Clerk, which is quite the feat considering this is the first African American woman to serve as Kane County Clerk in history. We also elected the first African American in the history of Kane County to serve as Regional Superintendent of schools.
It makes me proud that Kane County voted without bias for gender nor race; and saw the relevance of our Democratic Party. The party that will continue to protect our freedom and our rights – especially our right to vote for who will best serve the people.
I am also very happy to announce that Governor Pritzker carried Kane County by 27 percentage points and Kane County came through for all statewide offices.
Congratulations to State Representatives-elect Ricky Rivard and Saba Haider, as well as State Senators-elect Michelle Clark and Jared Ploger. Of course, congratulations are also in order for State Representatives Matt Hanson, Suzanne Ness, Maura Hirshauer, Barb Hernandez, and Anna Moeller in their re-elections.
People are tired of the chaos and have spoken!
Congratulations Kane County!!
