Kane County Campaign Sign Recycling 2026 Mid-Terms

The Kane County Recycling Program encourages candidates for office to keep plastic signs in good condition for future/re-election campaigns when possible.

We are again offering free recycling for corrugated plastic signs and metal sign stands that are not being kept. Signs will be collected at KDOT’s Offices (Campton Hills) and at the West Dundee Recycling Center Nov 4 – 12, and at Kane County Government Center (Geneva) Nov 4 – 15. There will be no collection on Fabyan Parkway this year because the Recycling Center is closed for repaving. All addresses and details are on the attached flier and also on our website.

  • Step 1: Check with local candidates or campaigns if they will be collecting their signs for reuse
  • Step 2: Check sign material – we can recycle rigid plastic signs that are about 1/4″ thick (see below)
  • Step 3: Separate signs from their metal stands & cut off any zip ties or other fasteners
  • Step 4: Take signs & stands to the indicated drop-off locations on the listed dates and times

November 4 – November 12, 2026

  • KDOT: 41W011 Burlington Rd, Campton Hills
    • Bins near front of Building A – assessable 24/7 during collection period
  • Kane County Recycling Center: 900 Angle Tarn, West Dundee
    • Located behind Village of West Dundee DPW building (gate off Beacon St.)
    • Open Monday – Friday, 7am – 3pm (closed Veterans’ Day)
  • NO collection on Fabyan Parkway this year due to site renovations

November 4 – November 15, 2026

  • Kane County Government Center: 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva
    • Assessable 24/7 during collection period
    • Put signs into commercial container at the end of the lower (furthest east) parking lot, adjacent to the Forest Preserve
      • Use separately marked container for metal sign stands (new large container!)

The signs we can recycle in this program are made from corrugated polypropylene (cross section shown at left). Signs made from plastic film/marked #4 (LDPE) can be taken to store plastic bag drop-offs for recycling.
