As mid-term elections approach, people who vote a straight Republican Party ticket ought to give some serious thought to what it means to vote for any GOP candidate in the Trump 2.0 era. After all, this is what Trump stands for and what the entire Republican Part has signed onto in its votes, in its candidates’ campaign promises.

- I will do whatever it takes, including lying and cheating, for power, legacy and fortune.
- I will start unnecessary wars with no defined purpose or end.
- I will enforce deportation of immigrants, criminal or not, using any ICE tactics, without due process.
- I will defund and limit Whitehouse access to the press.
- I will greatly limit SNAP benefits and Medicaid and health care subisidies.
- I will cut back on environmental regulations, in spite of increasing disasters.
- I will aim to restrict voting rights.
- I will order Tariffs resulting in high prices.
- I will alienate alliances with other countries.
- I will use the Justice Department against perceived enemies.
- I will penalize law firms that have litigated against my administration.
- I will condone and pardon illegal, fatal actions against the capitol and congressional members.
- I will defund child education programs and penalize universities for DEI.
- I will fire thousands of hard-working civil servants while spending billions on undeclared war.
- I will ruin people’s careers if not loyal to me.
- I will cut off funding for scientific research.
- I will cut funding and personnel to health agencies, food and drug agencies and oversight committees.
- I will find ways to expand me and my family’s fortunes, in defiance of the constitution.
The fallout has torn apart families, seriously damaged the economy, undermined public health, and created dangerous uncertainty abroad. Republicans in Congress have facilitated these effects.
