House GOP Set to Cut Critical Health Care and Food Assistance Programs

  • With Donald Trump’s blessing, House Republicans are pushing a budget that includes one of the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in American history — showing once more that the GOP’s priority will always be Trump’s billionaire backers, not working families.
  • Medicaid and SNAP are vital programs that millions of Americans rely on for quality, affordable health care and to put food on the table. Republicans need to wake up and realize that they can’t drastically cut those programs without consequences. It is their vote or their seat.
  • Republicans can try to spin this all they want — this is not a moderate bill.
    • According to the CBO, Republicans’ reconciliation package will cut health care spending by $715 billion over a decade. All in all, the GOP bill will result in nearly 14 million Americans going uninsured.
    • Hospitals will close, seniors will not be able to get the care they need, and premiums will skyrocket for everyday families.
    • Trump is showing us whose side he’s on: He’s not fighting for children, parents, seniors in nursing homes, or people with disabilities – he’s gutting programs Americans rely on to give handouts to the ultra wealthy.
  • Only four Republicans need to grow a spine and join Democrats to protect these critical programs. If they don’t, they’ll face the consequences in the midterms.

Trump’s Latest Grift: $400 Million Luxury Jet from Qatar

  • Trump is set to receive a luxury jet from Qatar — which may be the “biggest foreign gift ever.”
  • While working families brace for higher costs and empty shelves, Trump is still focusing on enriching himself and his billionaire backers.
  • Trump is proving that he can be bought and paid for by foreign governments — he’s as shameless as he is corrupt.

Ken Martin on X: Democrats need to prepare for the reality of a very different electoral map in the next decade.

We need to win in 2026 and 2028, but we also need a long-term vision at the DNC to win beyond that.

Ken Martin on X: Bought and paid for by foreign governments.

Trump’s bankrupting the rest of us while enriching himself and his billionaire friends.

He’s as shameless as he is corrupt.

FactPost on X: Some more context:

—Federal government staff are not allowed to accept gifts over $20 in value

—Trump froze the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act preventing bribery in February

—Article I of the Constitution states that ‘No person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren on X: Half of new moms have health insurance thanks to Medicaid.

Let’s keep fighting to protect it.

Democrats on X: Vice Chair @malcolmkenyatta is right. We don’t kiss the rings of kings in America.

Michael Linden on X: Let me translate. Trump knows they are taking on water for pushing a giant billionaire tax cut. So every so often, he floats a tiny symbolic change, but then has to immediately disavow it. Because, fundamentally, rich people tax cuts are the core GOP agenda. Rinse and repeat.

House Judiciary Dems on Bluesky: Trump’s $400 million “flying palace” from the royal family of Qatar blatantly violates the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which prohibits the president from taking gifts “of any kind whatever” from foreign states and Kings without the approval of Congress.

Rep. Greg Casar on Bluesky: Summers are hotter. Winters are colder. Extreme weather is more and more common. Our planet’s future is on the line.

Trump’s response? Stop tracking the costs of natural disasters.

All to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley on Bluesky: Our elders have spent their lives building our communities, and they deserve to age with dignity, security, and humanity.

As Trump, Musk, and Republicans threaten to gut Medicaid, Social Security, and other essential programs, we cannot and will not stand by.
