Redistricting in Kane County – Aurora @ The Prisco Center

Redistricting in Kane County - Aurora @ The Prisco Center
REDISTRICTING in Kane County
GENEVA, IL – Kane County Board Chairman Corinne Pierog will hold five Town Hall meetings throughout the county to gather community input on redistricting.
Kane County residents and representatives of organizations within Kane County will each be allowed five minutes to offer public comment during the Town Hall meetings. Formal presentations will also be accepted and will be posted on the county website.
Pierog said redistricting happens every 10 years following the U.S. Census and is vitally important to Kane County because it determines fair representation for Kane County’s 24 County Board Districts.
“The quality of your representation — the policies that the government enacts — is affected by district boundaries,” she said. “We want the residents of Kane County to participate in helping draw those lines.”
Each Town Hall will be livestreamed to the Kane County YouTube channel. All residents wishing to speak must do so in-person.
The five Town Hall meetings will take place at the following times, dates, and locations:
• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 — The Prisco Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora.
• 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 — Elburn Lions Club, 500 Filmore St., Elburn.
• 6 p.m. Thursday, May 27 — Adult Activities Center, 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville.
• 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 2 — Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva. (This session will be conducted via Zoom and in-person. Zoom login information will be posted on the Kane County website homepage prior to the event.)

Dundee Memorial Day Parade with Sean Casten @ Immanuel Lutheran Church
May 30 @ 1:00 pm

Join the Dundee Democrats and Sean Casten in this year’s Memorial Day Parade!

Where and When: Sunday, May 30th in West Dundee. The staging for the parade will be at Immanuel Lutheran School, 5 S. Van Buren in East Dundee. Please arrive between 1:00-1:30 as the parade kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. Sandy Morganstein is the Team Casten parade marshal and will undoubtedly be found around the red, white, and blue Teslas you will see at the staging area.

Parade Route: Rt. 72 in East & West Dundee to Grafelman Park (West Dundee) where Sean will speak.

COVID Precautions: If you are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks past your last required shot), the parade organizers are leaving it up to you whether or not to wear a mask. According to both Illinois and CDC guidelines, unvaccinated adults and children should wear a mask and practice social distancing.

What to Wear: Dress for the weather, but please wear your Casten or Dems t-shirt if you have one. (If you don’t have a t-shirt and would like one, please email castencrew@castenforcongress.com so we can try to get one for you.) If you are not wearing a Casten tee shirt, please wear a red, white or blue plain shirt in honor of the day.

Signs: Because it is Memorial Day, we will not be carrying signs of any kind except for the parade banner. The parade’s theme is red, white, and blue, so bring your flags and other patriotic gear.

Candy: The parade organizers have OK’d the distribution of candy, so if you feel like joining in, please bring bags of wrapped candy. Also, please wear a mask as you will be closer to the crowd and unvaccinated small children. Candy baskets will be provided.

What Else: Don’t forget a bottle of water, hat, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer. It could be a hot day!
