Dress for the weather and wear an Elgin / Kane County Democrats or candidate shirt if you have one. Signs are encouraged as well.

(Do you have a friend who feels they need to march too? Invite them along to meet with like minded people. The camaraderie and conversation with others who try to make a positive difference can help.)

Parking and Shuttle Service

Many parade participants and spectators like to park in the downtown area near the end of the parade route. Parking is available in the free parking decks (please see map for details).

Shuttle service for parade participants is available in the surface lot at 200 N. Grove Avenue, Elgin, IL 60120 (former Gail Borden Library site) north of the Hemmens. This service allows participants to either be dropped off near their staging position or to park near downtown. The shuttle service is not for spectators. The shuttle will start running at 7:00AM. The last shuttle pick-up will be at 8:10AM.

This annual community tradition brings together families, neighbors, local organizations, and community groups from across the Fox Valley to celebrate Independence Day and the values that connect us.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us make a fun, energetic, and welcoming showing in the parade.

Volunteers may help with:

  • Walking in the parade
  • Carrying banners or signs
  • Handing out candy, flyers, or giveaways
  • Helping with lineup and staging
  • Taking photos/video for social media
  • Bringing positive energy and community spirit throughout the event

This is a family-friendly event and a great opportunity to meet fellow volunteers, connect with the community, and represent Democratic values of inclusion, opportunity, civic participation, and people-powered organizing.

Additional details including lineup location, arrival time, parking information, and attire recommendations will be shared closer to the event date.

Come celebrate Independence Day with us and help show that democracy works best when people participate! 💙
