SUMMARY:Kane County Tax Referendum Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Representatives of the Kane County Board will host several public meetings to present educational information regarding the proposed Special County Retailer’s Occupation Tax Referendum. In September 2024\, the Kane County Board approved placing this measure on the April 1\, 2025\, election ballot to ask voters whether or not to establish a 0.75% sales tax dedicated exclusively to funding essential public safety services. Those services include the Sheriff’s Office\, State’s Attorney\, Public Defender\, Coroner\, Circuit Clerk\, KaneComm 911\, Public Health\, and the Office of Emergency Management. \nThe proposed sales tax would add 75 cents per $100 spent on applicable retail purchases in Kane County\, with exemptions for essential items such as groceries and prescription medications. \nThe revenue generated from this tax would be allocated to public safety initiatives\, such as: \n\nSupporting law enforcement and emergency response services.\nUpgrading public safety technology and infrastructure.\nEnhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities.\nExpanding programs to address drug overdoses\, neglect\, and abuse.\n\nEach meeting will follow a town hall format\, allowing attendees to ask questions and provide feedback. \nTown Hall Meeting Schedule:\n\nBurlington: Feb. 4\, Mott’s Lounge\, 5:30–6:30 p.m.\nEast Dundee: Feb. 10\, Dundee Township Building\, 5:00–6:00 p.m.\nElgin: Feb. 24\, Gail Borden Library\, 5:00–6:00 p.m.\nAurora: March 3\, Santori Library\, 5:30–6:30 p.m.\nSt. Charles: March 6\, St. Charles Library\, 5:30–6:30 p.m.\nGeneva: March\, 10\, Geneva Library\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

SUMMARY:Lauren Underwood Virtual Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:This Saturday 2/22/2025 at 11:30 AM CST\, I’m hosting a special Virtual Town Hall for constituents. Click here to sign up to join us. \nHi Neighbor\, \nThe Trump Administration’s flurry of executive orders and policy actions are harming our community\, and they are an attack on the values that make the 14th District so strong. The President’s actions have done nothing to lower costs for working families and his policy priorities are vastly out of step with northern Illinoisans. \nAs your representative in Congress\, I want you to know that I am fully committed and focused on protecting our values and our fundamental rights in this moment. \nThere are more than 70 pending lawsuits against the Trump Administration’s executive orders and administrative actions\, and House Democrats are using every tool in our toolbox to keep our communities safe. \nKeeping you informed is part of that commitment and a top priority of mine. I wanted to make sure you received an invitation to a special event I am hosting this Saturday\, February 22 at 11:30 AM CST: \nJoin me for a special Virtual Town Hall meeting. I’ll provide an overview of everything House Democrats are doing to protect our community from these harmful executive orders\, take your questions\, and together we’ll have a conversation about the path forward.   \nI hope to have your voice at the table! \nPlease click here to sign up to receive a phone call once the event begins.
