SUMMARY:Keep ICE Out of St. Charles
DESCRIPTION:ICE agents are operating in Kane County\, acting unlawfully\, ignoring court orders\, driving erratically\, changing license plates and creating chaos. The facts are clear: they are not targeting criminals\, they do not have warrants\, and they are traumatizing our communities. \nOther nearby communities have responded by passing “Welcome to Our City” resolutions\, “Keep Off City Property” policies\, and ordinances that demonstrate their commitment to the law and to the safety of all residents. The St. Charles City Council has not taken similar action yet. We strongly believe the City must do something concrete to show our neighbors that they are welcome\, safe\, and supported. \nWe spend time in St. Charles as residents\, workers\, visitors\, and community members\, and we are deeply concerned about ICE’s recent actions. Their conduct has been unlawful\, dangerous\, and inconsistent with the values of safety\, trust\, and due process that our community expects and deserves. ICE agents are not making our communities safer — they are creating chaos\, trauma and fear. \nSt. Charles must take action to ensure that everyone who lives in or visits our city is protected from practices that undermine public safety and community well-being. \nWe urge city leaders to act immediately to keep ICE off St. Charles property and out of our community. \nJoin WeCanLeadChange on Monday\, December 15th\, 7:00 pm\,\nat the City Council meeting\,\n2 E. Main Street\, St. Charles\, IL 60174. \nPlease show your support—and to urge the City of St. Charles to \nMore Info and Petition
