3rd Annual 14th Congressional District Democrats Fundraiser

· Where: Ellwood House Visitor Center 509 North First Street Dekalb IL.

· When: from 4 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 19^th, 2009

· Cost: $50 a ticket-table of 10- $500 includes name displayed - kids under 12 free

Come out and see all of our candidates for the 14^th Congressional District and meet some new friends. All proceeds go back to the counties in the 14^th District.

Food and soft drinks included, tickets held at the door.

Please come early and visit the Ellwood House Museum.

On Saturday, July 11th Fox Valley Citizens For Peace & Justice, Elgin Rainbow Push, Black Business Owners and Community Networking Organization and Elgin Moveon Council will present a panel discussion and dialogue about Community Economic Restoration after the economic meltdown. This is the second event in our series. The first was on May 2nd and featured Dr Vince Gaddis, who gave a lucid explanation of neo-liberal economics and some of the dynamics behind the economic meltdown. He called for a Revolution in Values as articulated by Martin Luther King that could transform our society.

On July 11th, he will be back with three other dynamic speakers to address the question:

After the economic meltdown, how can we construct our economy in a way that will be more fair, more equitable, more inclusive and more humane? How can we do this on the national level? And how can we do this here in Elgin?

The program is free and open to the public. Questions and discussion will follow. Light refreshments will be served.
